What's the difference between FCPA and FDC?

FCPA is a nonprofit organization that operates to bring performing arts experiences to the general public. We do this primarily through our production of The Nutcracker each December, as well as through our summer workshop and outreach programs at schools and community events. We have an independent board of directors and maintain separate financial accounts and records.

For the purpose of our productions, FCPA may hire some of the same artists who work for FDC, but they are hired specifically and separately for the express needs of FCPA. Ginny serves on a volunteer basis as FCPA’s artistic director and supports the organization with administrative and promotional services.

Many of FDC’s students audition for and participate in FCPA’s productions. This provides FDC’s students with opportunities to experience real-life performance situations, and provides FCPA’s productions with a base of well-trained participants. To facilitate this relationship, FDC students pay membership dues to FCPA at the same time that they pay their tuition. The dues represent a family membership, giving the student’s parents, as well as the student, membership in FCPA. These dues are distinct from the course fee, which FDC retains and which provides only the individual student with registration in the course.

While the relationship is a close and mutually-beneficial one, the two entities are separate, with distinct goals, operations and management.
